In a nutshell
Taste | An addictive chocolatey flavor with a subtle hint of cardamom. |
Texture | Gooey, rich chocolate deliciousness. |
Level | A piece of cake! |
Perfect occasion | Good for small gatherings, family dinners and potlucks. |
In today’s recipe, the cardamom adds a distinct flavour to the cake. But don’t forget, it’s always an option to add in a lesser quantity of ground cardamom if you want just a subtle hint of flavour.
The only thing to remember for any cardamom cake: make sure you use freshly ground cardamom. The flavour is much better if you grind it fresh instead of directly buying the powder from the store.
The batter may look very thin but no worries, the cake would come out perfect. You can also do a basic icing on it… but lazy me… don’t mind eating it just like that… also trying to reduce my calorie intake…. as if!! ?
Be very careful when mixing the boiling water. Stir it slowly into the batter so that it does not splash out.
The cake should be completely cooled before storing them in an airtight container. This prevents a sticky top.
This yummy chocolate cake with cardamom can be stored up to 3 days on the counter or up to a week when chilled.
To freeze the cake: These decadent slices should be frozen before sprinkling powdered sugar. Wrap the cake in plastic wrap and then freeze them in Ziploc bags to avoid freezer burn. When required, thaw the cake on the counter and enjoy!

• If you want a less subtle Cardamom flavor use ¼ tsp instead of ½ tsp
• Be careful while stirring the hot water. Don’t want to burn yourself!
• Make sure to let the cake completely cool before placing it in a closed container. This will prevent the top of the cake from becoming sticky.
