Buying granola is a lot unhealthy and I wasn’t sure of what I was eating. So I had decided to make granola on my own. That’s when I figured making granola is not rocket science.

Homemade Granola is super healthy to make and super easy to customize to our taste. No matter what ingredient combination you use, it is hard to go wrong with this recipe.

And the best part of it all…it tastes way better than store bought granola and a healthier option too!

Today’s recipe is a perfect healthy breakfast option. They can be had as a cereal or with yogurt and fruits or just a grab n go snack. No matter how you make the granola, this simple homemade recipe is a no fuss recipe with endless ways to be creative!

Healthy , tasty and a super easy breakfast with very few and simple ingredients

Ingredients

  • 4 cups rolled oats
  • ¾ cup almonds, sliced with skin (or mixed nuts sliced)
  • ½ cup coconut, shredded
  • Sea salt, a few crystals
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup canola oil (or sunflower oil, olive oil, coconut oil)
  • ½ cup honey (or maple syrup)
  • 2 teaspoon water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 cup dried fruits (raisin, cranberries, cherries, blueberries, etc)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 150°C (300°F).

Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

In a bowl, combine the oats, almonds, shredded coconut, salt and cinnamon. Keep aside.

In a pan, warm the oil, honey, water and vanilla essence together and pour it over the dry ingredients.

Toss the mixture to make sure everything is coated well.

Spread this mixture on the parchment paper and bake for 15 minutes or until light brown in color.

Stir every 5 minutes to cook the granola evenly. Take care not to burn the granola.

Once the mixture is cooked completely, remove from oven and toss in the dried fruits while it is hot.

Allow the granola to cool completely and store it an airtight container for upto a week.

Notes

Keep stirring every 5 minutes till lightly brown. Make sure the granola does not burn.
